Who We Are

HomeHaven is a grassroots organization of friends and neighbors throughout Greater New Haven. We are a community of active older adults living in our own homes in the neighborhoods and towns we love. As members of HomeHaven, we are organized into five villages working together to redefine what it means to grow older in today’s world. Read more about Our Villages and the Village Movement. Our History

In the spring of 2006, a group of neighbors in the East Rock area of New Haven got together to talk about a feature article in The New York Times about Beacon Hill Village in Boston. “We want this!” they said. They took a field trip to Boston to learn more and returned with an enormously helpful handbook. Click HISTORY for a more detailed history of HomeHaven.

Our Activities and Interest Groups

As a member run organization, we host a variety of activities and interest groups. From volunteering within our communities, to cultural excursions, to walks along the Farmington Canal -- there is something for everyone. Check out some of our groups! ACTIVITIES/INTERESTS

Be Involved!

The success of HomeHaven depends heavily on members to be involved and work with various committees. Opportunities are available to assist the Governing Board, your local Village leadership, and/or work directly with committees assisting our Executive Director. All members are offered a chance to serve and have a voice in our organization. Some of our current committees are here:

Our Board and Staff

Our volunteer Board of Directors, working with the full-time Executive Director, sets policy and develops resources for the organization. The Board meets bi-monthly and works through Board Committees and Task Forces.The Executive Director is responsible for management of the organization, assisted by a small staff.
